Menstrual Health and Hygiene
Summary
This technical brief intends to bridge the gaps created by the siloed sectoral approaches often utilized by the global community by defning Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) for USAID and its partners, outlining key challenges to and opportunities for improving MHH, and making recommendations for USAID staf and partners to consider in designing and implementing activities within diferent sectors that contribute to a holistic MHH approach. It highlights the need for a multi-dimensional set of interventions, the role of information on menstruation for both menstruators and non menstruators, and the benefits of investing in MHH in the workplace and MHH entrepreneurship. It also focuses on the need for shifts in social and gender norms, and holistic MHH programming.
